New topic: customizations
This is a tentative first post for a series of posts on customizing my laptop, and by extension, your computer too.
Every year, I modify my laptop desktop. This year, I succeeded in finding a clock gadget more flexible than the stock HUD Clock gadget.
The HUD gadget allows font and transpatency selection along with clock name and face. Size, however is fixed and dependent on the font.
The recent acquisition has a font for time and one for day/date. They can be different sizes as well. I ran across mention while surfing the web. I instalked a version that turned out to be in German. I went to archive.org and opened the original website. I found and downloaded a version in English. The English version is a little different than the German version but September is not Septemper and December is not Dezember.
The are other additions. One good one finally dropped out after keeping up with the changes in the Windows operating system for several years.
The gadgets, by the way, were installed using the app 8gadgetpack from a website, 8gadget. something.
Anothe option is glass4k, which creates a transparent and tinted taskbar.
Currently, I'm examining the concept of 'live' wallpaper using an app called Lively.
Another addition is Winamp, a media player from the 90's. The app still works if not loaded down with accessories and plugins. Keep it simple and the app works like a charm.
Another addition is equalizerAPO and the Peace gui. A setup to apply custom digital equalization to Windows audio. Handy for those with hearing issues and headphones.
I searched for a long time for a mythical Matrix screensaver that accurately reproduced the green rain effect. To my surprise, I found what a I believe is the only Matrix screensaver faithful to the movie. The screensave is still on the web.
That's about it.
